MEET OUR LITTLE BEAN

Oliver was born August 22nd at about 3:45 in the morning with no complications and had a totally unmedicated birth. His weight was 7 pounds,13 ounces and he was 20" tall. Amy did so well, everyone should be very proud of her. Just look at my beautiful family

After a little mommy bonding time I got the chance to hold my son for the first time. What a great experience. This will change everything...

Peetz lips and nose, Black eyes and ears=cute as a button

This is our first family portait. Just a couple of hours old in this photo.

so it went down like this...Monday morning Amy woke up a couple of times with some pre-labor contractions. I decited to stay home from work in case anything happened. We kicked it around the house, went on a walk and helped some freinds with some chores. After that we came home and at about 3:30 Amy's water broke. We called the midwife and made some arangments to head down there at 7:30. On the way Amy's contrations where getting stronger than before. We got to the birthing center and the midwife checked Amy's cirvix,it was at about 3cm. We made arangments to go to Kari,Molly and Owen's house to labor for a while. About 11:00 we headed back to the midwifery and at that point her cirvix was about 7cm. Oliver cleared the cirvix at about 2am and Amy started to bear down. At 3:45 he was born. His cord was pretty short and he couldn't reach the breast at first .He whined and cried for a bit and pulled himself to moms boob. It was unbelivable. Welcome to the world little man.

Only 4 days left until the "due date"
You know its getting close when updates are more frequent. I have been getting tired more easily, but other than that I'm still feeling fine. Riley makes sure of it ;-). We took a hike up Mary's Peak yesterday to beat the heat, and it was absolutely beautiful!

It is the highest point on the entire coastal range. The going was a bit slow, but we eventually made it to the top.

slowly...

neener neener

oh look the tough guy found a baby bumble bee

ahh...Oregon is pretty

We did take some time to admire some of the local's handy work. Who stacks rocks?

Oops! We won't say what Riley was trying to do.

Here's a few shots of the baby's room. Riley really came through on putting this amazing tree together! Whatta dad.

The safari animals circle the whole room, and check out the dresser Riley refinished!

Alright, until next post.
love,
amy

The count down begins!
There are only 11 days left until the due date! We've been keeping busy making decorations for the baby's bedroom...

Jezebel helped :-)

We (really its all Riley, I'm just there to make food and feed him) have been working hard getting the ground ready for our winter garden! Maybe you can see the soil past my threatening stance?

I've started in on the laundry for the wee one. Yea! Cute! Look! The clothes are so tiny!!! I know, I know, its just clothes, but we never had a basket full of tiny clothes like this before. :-)

And finally, I'm still a growing, not big enough for some, too big for me, and hopefully just enough for the bean. And yes, mom, I know my bed is not made!! :-)
